I am having the same issue. But I can usually stretch my tolerance to 14.0% or even 14.5% if the wine is a Bordeaux. Why that is I really don´t know; it seems that my body accepts Bordeaux wines better than other wines .. maybe my body has become part of the region or the opposite [flirtysmile.gif]...

As I get older, harder and harder to drink anything above 13.5%, so ideally ABV for wines should fall between 12% to 13.5%. I am having the same issue. This Tuesday: Chx Fonréaud 2014 Listrac and de Sales 2014 Pomerol for my weekend Birthday dinner on Saturday, as well as bottle of Chablis 1er Cru 2016 Bichot. The Chablis 1er was tasted on Tuesday as part of my Birthday celebrations and it was brilliant, consumed with oysters.

Happy Birthday, Rich, and thank you for the notes. Tasted the Fonplégade 1980 Saint Emilion in January 2019 and the wine was surprisingly good. So it seems, with the Mouton 1980. Those "off-vintages" aren´t as "off" as the official story claims..
