Re: What de Négoce wine are you drinking tonight?

Are people really yelling? No need to deride folks as shills. I think most of the commentary has been to the effect that it's likely too early to form a high conviction view of exactly where these wines will end up given youth / bottle shock in certain cases. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me, a...

Re: de Negoce offer

Good reason for the old saying "how do you make $1 million in the wine business? Start with $5 million." The saying more specifically mentions starting or buying a winery. The very thing dN is trying to take advantage of! Yes, give me a f'n break. dN showed no signs of being even a .0001%...

No. 43 Cabernet. I continue to believe that this is not a good wine. I have had several since release and find little to recommend it. The 49 is a different matter (lot of potential...don't drink now!!! Wait a few years), but this 43....ugh. 93, 90, 92. So someone likes it. Well 3 different people....

Re: WineAccess Thread - Wines, Tasting Notes, Deals, etc.

Yah, it's complicated though. When WA sells a case for $33/bottle/shipped that's more like $30 apples/apples w/ dN. Additionally, they offer a ridiculous number of coupons. 50 off 150 for new customers, all the AMEX shit, etc. I'd guess their actual revenue is low 20's/bottle and it seems like they...

I'll propose a much more likely hypothesis for why this thread and the enthusiasm for new offers has died: Along with the fact most of this board way overbought, the concept behind why dN existed is largely over.
