A Flannery Hanger with an excellent 2012 EMH Black Cat! The Black Cat had an enticing nose of dark fruit and cassis. Red-blue fruit on entry, nice earthiness and structure mid-palate and a slight touch a pepper on the smooth finish. The nose and touch of pepper had me hooked! The bottle did not last...

Popped the 2014 Wind Gap Syrah last night. Not my preferred style. Nose was faint. Very light, no body and finish. No much going-on. Left some for today to see if it gains any weight.

Fresh king is the best by a mile. Still I love stone while my wife prefers dungeness. Freshness is important though. My buddy overnights them every once in a while and its incomparable. Yes, over priced but not over rated if you have the right vendor. My contact gets them off the boat in the am and I purchase them in the afternoon. They have been scarce this season. Many days I wanted to purchase but not available.

We stayed at the Sandpiper Inn (B & B) two years ago. It's one block from the water. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Brings back great memories!

I have been following the 11 over the last 6-9 months and it's getting better. Needs a few hours of decanting or time in the cellar. The 11 Reserve is more open for business with an hour decant. I will check back in on the regular 11 in the Fall.

We are leaning towards staying on the coast (agree with Rich!) at least one or two nights. We are driving up from Carmel therefore would it be better to visit AV on the front or back end of Sonoma/Napa?

I'd say it's in the middle leaning a tad towards modern but in no way a fruit. I've had 12's and 13's and they need a few years of cellaring. We prefer the Amaryllis (bigger/bolder) to the Eminence.
