Tom, I certainly wasn't as diligent in my note taking as you were and I was definitely not as focused on a smaller number of wines considering the sheer number of bottles that were open, but it was a great time shared with great people and I did at least think to take a few pictures so thought I wou...

Re: If you have offsite storage, how many bottles do you keep at home

Keep about 140 at home in a wine fridge with 3x that offiste. The location is about 25 minutes away so it accomplishes two things: 1. It ensures I won't impulsively open wine at home that is nowhere near ready to drink and 2. I don't go up to the facility to "play" but about once every 6 weeks or so...

Re: TN: Carlisle Syrah JamesBerry '08...(short/boring)

Tom, I agree with your general sentiments and I collect many of those labels that you named. I guess what I'm wondering more specifically is 2 things: 1. Does this patch of dirt (James Berry Vineyard) produce wines that don't gain much complexity, but merely soften and focus as they age? 2. Do Carli...

Good thing Costco has an amazing return policy. At least in Massachusetts, no returns on alcohol. Ah now see that makes sense. It was definitely a noticeable green olive note so if you don’t like the taste in general that would be a problem. Just finished my first bottle of this over 3 nights. As someone who does not generally love wines that could peel the paint of a wall I can say this isn't that. The descriptors that mention chamomile, flower, and honey are right on. My own personal notes mentioned honeysuckle which is a nice amalgamation of the three. Nice wine, great price.
