This will be a perfect occasion to open some of the good stuff we've been "waiting for the perfect opportunity" for. Please count me and the wife in. Yeah, I think if my wish list items don't hit I might throw in the towel. Too many good Pinot producers out there to deal with this kind of allotment situation. I don't have the space or budget to go deep on the handful of wines I care about here.

Anyone tasted any of these? I havent heard much about the '14s. Frankly, I think they need to pair down the single vineyard offerings. Just too damn many. +1 too damn many to do what I'd like, which is to get two or three each of my favorite SVD's. Based on their allocations, they assume I want a c...

Great article Kyle, thanks for posting. I actually grew up in Evergreen but moved away 15 years ago, only discovering Creekside in the last couple of years. Funny, I bought a few of these from Lot 18 about four years ago. The first six showed up cooked (delivery in the heat), the second six were terrific, much as you described. We cooked with the first batch and the bottle kind of stuck in my memory even though we drank through it all and haven't seen a...

Very disappointing indeed. This was definitely a go-to in value sparkling. Not sure why they feel the need to eliminate the original wines rather than simply adding on some additional sources or bottlings under the same brand. Why you would discontinue a very successful line in order to expand is be...

Wine Cellar Construction - veneer on walls behind racking

I also did a thin wood veneer behind my racks (maybe 1/8"), stained dark brown to match the racking, and it looks great. No issues so far, and hopefully won't have any in the future. I assume so long as the RH is kept below 70%, there shouldn't be any issues. I agree, IMO it looks much more finished...

Zichichi in Dry Creek also makes a very nice PS, worth checking out. Agree they can all be somewhat one dimensional young, the ripe fruit hides a lot of its other character - but as the baby fat burns off, will reveal a pretty complex wine.

Luigi Bormioli are great daily use glasses, very durable. Ours have stood up to empty tip overs on granite several times and we have never broken one. They don't look all that sturdy but they really are - and they are relatively cheap compared to a lot of nicer stemware.

Frank, Brig, are these early drinkers or do you see potential for bottle development? Rhys's vintage chart has the '12 Bears as a hold ('13s not out there yet). I've been keeping my hands off the '12s, trying to make it through the '11s before I go there. That said, I just might have to engage in a ...

+1 on the ducted systems, especially as the temp diff on most units could get risky in severely hot FL weather. Differences betwween CA and OR Pinot Noir Regions

A starting point is to acquire wines made by the same winemaker from different areas. Siduri, for example uses grapes from RR, SLH, SRH, Oregon, and more. Lots of California producers make wine from multiple regions, although only Siduri pops to mind as making wine from Oregon. That kind of compari...

Agree with others on the Teldeschi from Ravenswood, solid QPR. I also like a number of Ridge zins, their East Bench is very good juice for $25 - and one of my favorite QPR zins. Zichichi makes a nice zin for under $30. There are quite a few good values from the Dry Creek area. Quite a variety of sty...

I get paying for high end glassware but, for me, evaluating a wine with a $10 stem isn't much different than a $150 stem as I am still learning to perceive all the nuances a wine can demonstrate at a fairly basic level.
