Great event Karen and John! The Sauv Blanc was delicious and one of the more food friendly SBs I’ve had. The star of the show, however, had to be the Rutherford Cab. Terrific old world cab. Great venue and a all around great event, glad we were able to attend. Cheers!

Re: EuroCave versus Vino Temp Cooler unit - any thoughts or experience to determine?

I'm curious about the ArteVino III; clearly it's much more affordable, but if the only difference is that it's a Toyota, I'm fine with that. Leonard, my Artevino III was just delivered theee weeks ago, so can’t opine on longevity. That said, it is very quiet, has maintained consistent temps and is ...

Enjoying a bottle of 2011 Walter Hansel South Slope pinot tonight in honor of Rusty. He was the reason I sought out this solid RRV pinot producer. This stuff needs some bottle time and the 2011 is showing beautifully tonight. Cheers Rusty!

Have to go with the 70 Taylor as my WOTD as well. No words come to mind other than sublime. IRO the Ritchie horizontal, I’d have to say the Arista was my favorite style. Great event with too many mind boggling wines to write up (though, transparently, I was too busy tasting to bother with notes!). A...

Do restaurants tend to set their corkage fee at the markup of the average bottle sold? Seems to be that way, so if I pay the typical margin why should the restaurant care so long as I also spiff the waiter?

Typically do a cocktail, a beer and glass with dinner. Rarely a bottle from the list and, when we do, it's sub $100. Always prefer bringing a nice bottle if the venue allows. Hate paying the markups on wine when I have a cellar of great juice at home.
