I've heard people having luck by learning when the shipments come in to Costco and lining up at their liquor store an hour so before opening. Get in with the staff and you'll get tipped off on what's coming in.

Wine pairing assistance

Looking for help to pair a beautiful piece of Pumpkin Swordfish with wine this evening. My initial thought is some type of pinot noir or an acidic white. Any suggestions?

I'll be simply grilling the fish with salt & pepper.

Thanks all! I do have a '14 but will not have time to pull from offsite, there's a '13 in my wine fridge at home. I also have two more 13's in inventory so will be able to see it develop.

Howell Mountain focused Napa trip

I’m considering making a Napa trip solely focused on Howell Mountain wineries.

Any recommendations on where to stay? Whenever we head up towards and through Angwin I don’t recall seeing any hotels.

Any thoughts on the general idea and hotel recommendations would be appreciated.

Don’t dismiss out of hand but Beringer could be a good visit. Huge property and several different tasting areas if people wanted to break off from the group to taste from basic to their Reserve wines.
