Re: Enfield Release Open

Just opened the 2016 Heron Lake Pinot last night -- it's such a pretty wine!! Confirmed my decision to make sure I order the '17 during this release! John's notes above are spot on, I recalled much more minerality in the 2014 Antle (which Delectable claims was 125 weeks ago -- eeks!), but you can't ...

I was heartbroken over Shepard's closing, but looks like Luce, an Italian concept by the same owner, is opening in its place. Keeping my fingers crossed they do the same concept with wine (allowing you to purchase quartinos at the bar of the half-bottles opened in the restaurant, or just being able ...

Re: Wine Scene in Boston/Cambridge?

Rebel Rebel in Sommerville (Bow Market) recently opened up -- another all natural wine bar, list changes nightly with some really fun gems -- but it's a super small space, out of the three times I attempted to go, I only actually sat down once.

Thanks, Merrill for the report! After about 8 months here in Boston, I'm still trying to make my way around the city (so this is helpful!) I had lunch at the Cambridge Toscano a few weeks ago (same as the one on Charles St., I believe) and it was delicious!

Since Jason is reading along, I'll just add my tiny two cents ... I absolutely adore these films! Thanks, Alicia. That is, in fact, exactly what my situation will be. They're not overly geeky, but I've found sound nice bottles there. Should be about a 10 minute uber/lyft ride from Catholic. Besides, always fun to stroll around Union Market and pick up necessary provisions! Enjoy! Oh, and right!...

Re: Is pre phylloxera better ?

I've enjoyed the handful of wines that are "pre-phylloxera," (so not a lot of experience with them), but to me, it just speaks to the hardiness of the vines (they're survivors!) and just part of the wine's story. For me, that adds a bit of enjoyment to the wine, even if scientifically it doesn't do ...

mcarthurs, schneiders and weygandts are among the main stays of D.C. wine. If you want something a little funkier, consider checking out Grand Cata (mostly spanish wines - think spain and south america with some italy and other places thrown in - but they may have something fun to consider).

It's a bit further (about two hours from Leesburg according to Google Maps), but consider Early Mountain Vineyard. Aside from their own wines, the tasting room will pour wines from about 10 other Virginia wineries so it's a great way to get a sense of Virginia wines as a whole. In the last few years...
