‘93 Chevillon Vaucrains, pretty much an indestructible wine, never faded over 4 hours on the first night and continued to improve on 2nd night, most likely a 40 to 50 years wine. Decent showing but you better like dark soils.

Thanks for the note. Would you say this has overcome the tight phase already? I'm not familiar with the producer yet, but waiting for a 2005 Clos du Roi to arrive, which I'm looking forward to. Issan(13.4%) and Margaux(13.9%) will be interesting, both managed to keep ABV below 14%. Almost certain will pick up some Issan.

53% Merlot of LMHB must be at 15.5% alcohol! Mouton managed to stay around 13.5% with 90% Cabernet Sauvignon.

LLC belongs on this list. About 10 years ago, K&L was selling mixed cases of LLC from a string of poor vintages 1983, 1988, 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1999. I asked for all of these. Got none. Too slow. Oh well. It was a lot of money for a .375, but basically a third of what a 750 sells for now, for a very nice 15 year old burg. ‘07 Mugneret Gibourg Les Chaignots - fantastic showing after being in semi-shutdown stage for a year, elegant interpretation of NSG, continued to improve over 3-4 hours, the last glass was the best.

2007 Vaucrains tonight. Beautiful, delicious and aromatic, lighter weight, with no grumpiness or tannic background. Never really would have placed it as a Vaucrains. I read somewhere (probably Neal Martin), there was a style change post 2000 vintages.

I am consuming a case of 93 Vacrains, could be rustic like Maume , wouldn’t win any finesse contest.

Chevillon is also my 2nd largest holding in Burgundy due to reasonable pricing during EP and easy access for me.
