Re: Good beer website

Hi Joe,

There’s bestdamnbeershop.com and craftbeerkings.com. They’re both in Cali, San Diego area I believe and they’ve both shipped beer to me in Ohio through FedEx within the last year. Also, Marina Market in Washington St. has shipped me tons of beer over the years.

Re: South African Cabs really a contender?

Vilafonte in Paarl. The series M and series C are both very good contenders in my opinion. The M being more right bank/merlot heavy and the C more Cabernet in a Bordeaux sense.

Re: the perils of sharing allocations

I’d agree with you Mark. I had considered trading/selling some of my bourbon but, wouldn’t feel comfortable shipping it out for the exact reasons you stated above. Keeping it local to the Cincy/Dayton area is about all I’d be up for. I guess it could be different if you have a very good relationship...

Enjoyed my only bottle this past weekend and ran out and picked up two more. They still had three bottles left, I might have to grab those as well. Look forward to enjoying these with some age on them.

Hi Jayson, Store wise I'd check out the following: The Partysource (Disclaimer, I'm part of the wine staff) & DEP's in Northern Kentucky. Also, the Wine Merchant(Cincinnati) & Jungle Jim's(if you have time to drive). As far as restaurants go Cincinnati is a big California red & white steakhouse kind...

Interesting. Seems a good amount of positive reviews on cellartracker. I've had the wines quite a bit in the early 2000s but, since then they've fallen off my radar. I was looking to grab a couple bottles of the 14' Chardonnay now I'm on the fence.

Sauvignon Blanc for me. The only 100% Sauvignon Blanc bottling I've enjoyed has been Catina Terlan's Quarz. Outside of that I prefer it blended with another white.

No, I haven't called them yet. I'll wait a little longer for the weather to break here then give them a ring nothing has been charged on my CC yet. Just shows the order is open and not ready to ship. I'll call soon.

I ordered two bottles of Sine Qua Non 2012 In The Abstract from PC on February 9th. It said there was 4 bottles In Stock. I'm doing 2nd day air. Gaja Sori Tildin

Tasting update: Had dinner at around 9pm, with about a 8 hour decant. Lovely aromas of cedar and sandalwood with, nice ripe dark cherries. Tar, roses and licorice as well. Still seemed a bit closed in the nose though. No orange color at all on the edges. Looks very young, dark red to violet in color...

Pulled the trigger on a bottle of Pegau 2010 Cuvee da Capo for $315. This the most I've ever paid on a single bottle. I love Pegau's Chats, the Reserve & Laurence so I went with it. 3 pack split with my boss. She took the two & I the one, at cost for us. The benefit of retail

Do super collectible Italian Whites exist?

I might have the spelling a little off but, Abbazia de Novacella would be another producer from Alto Aldige I would look. That Quatz defiantly pick up a good amount of richness and weight with age. Just brings back great memories of how good it was. Terlano Quartz & Chevalier Blanc are by far my fav...

Do super collectible Italian Whites exist?

Cantina Terlano from Alto Aldige. My boss gave me 2 bottles of Terlan's Quartz 2004 vintage last year from her cellar, both were absolutely amazing. The Quartz is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc & behaves more like a great white Bordeaux in it's complexity & ability to age. Young, it's very mineral driven, h...

Hmmmmm...... Think I'll pass on them. There's just to many grower burgs available to me at, above or slightly below the Le Moine prices that are more no-brainers to purchase for the seller.
