Re: What BEER are you drinking?

I got the chance to take a day trip to Tree House when we went to a wedding in upstate New York last weekend. Used my new wine check to bring about 40 cans home with me to share with friends and family (thanks Todd!). I’ve had three so far (Julius, Haze, and Curiosity 63), and they have all lived up...

Re: What is YOUR most recent wine purchase?

2 bottles of 2017 JJ Prum Graacher Himmelreich Auslese Goldkapsel. I was just going in to my favorite liquor store to pick up some beer for the super bowl. My wife, while not a big drinker, does enjoy a bottle (normally around $10-15) of Riesling every once in a while. I peeked by the Rieslings to ...

Wine Store Recommendations in Spain

I second the recommendation for Vila Vineteca. I was in Barcelona last fall and picked up a bottle of 1983 Bodegas Riojanas Rioja Monte Real Gran Reserva for something like 40-50 Euros. They had a bunch of aged Trophy wines as well (Vega Sicilia, Bordeaux, Champagne). Surprisingly, they also had a f...

A NV Gosset from a half that I've been sitting on for about four years. I've really enjoyed many of the NV/MV sparklers that I've allowed to age for a few years in the cellar, and this one also impressed.

Eric,
I thought shipping was high too. I contacted them and it looks like there is a flat shipping charge of $40 for 1-6 bottles to the east coast.

Hi All, I'm currently in the process of finishing my dissertation in economics, and one of my papers deals with wine fraud. I'm not sure if you have a Stein Mart in your area, but I got mine from there a few years ago. It looks like they still sell them on their website, so I would be surprised if they don't carry them in store.

Premier Cru Master Complaint Thread (MERGED)

I saw this on CT today about a NV Bollinger Champagne and definitely gave me a nice laugh. Definitely adds to the tasting note. Very nice. Classically structured, yeasty, sl oxidized style, nice secondary characteristics. A very classy sparkler that has aged wonderfully. Bought at PC (the *&^%$s) in...

Thanks Ray for the note. I'm a relative newcomer to wine and know almost nothing at all about wine auctions having never been to one yet. Hi Everyone, The recent thread on winebid increasing the buyer's premium got me thinking about buyer's premiums at auctions. I also agree that zins can age quite well. I really enjoyed a 2005 Marietta Angeli Cuvee I had last year and have two more than I'm in no rush to drink. I feel like Scott Harvey's vineyard 1869 zins can also age for quite a while.

Great thread idea. Unfortunately, all this makes me want to do is to just put $1500 on the credit card and do it myself. I'd probably buy some high end birth year wines... a bottle of Krug, Taittinger CdC, Leoville Las Cases, Yquem, and Gaja Barolo come to mind... And a Zalto for all of the tasting.

I agree with all of the comments about decent Tempranillo for $12 or less. Just finished a glass of 2004 Ondarre Rioja reserve. Wish I had bought more than a case a few years ago. Great daily drinker.

I think that you are getting lied to by the website. Both JJ Buckley and a local shop in Tampa (B-21) both openly advertise that they sell 3L bottles to be bought and shipped in Florida. I also believe that the Carlo Rossi bottles sold in many of our supermarkets are of the 3L size.
