Was on a Virgin Galactic rocket orbiting earth with Richard Branson and Alex last week. Can confirm the 16s were excellent and that flying/altitude really doesn’t impact a wines taste.

A decant is a must for Yquem. It is a wine that needs incredible amounts of air. Often it is opened for dessert as an afterthought, but it is a wine that should be put into a decanter when dinner starts, or even before. Agreed.. definitely decant.. but how long for a 75? any fears of falling apart?...

My opinion is the attraction of Burgundy is not visiting the hyper domaines (like in bdx where u can visit lafite Margaux etc). Rather it’s walking the legendary vineyards, taking the the mystique of the region. Catch lunch and dinner at some great spots with reasonable lists. Visiting even top tier...

We spent two days with Bourgogne Gold Tour (out of Beaune) this past spring, and I can't recommend them highly enough. We had a hard time getting in with many of the smaller producers (vs the bigger, more commercial places), hence the reason we did the private tour. BGT takes all of the legwork out...

The worst i've seen is in Iceland last week - a Casillero Del Diablo (i believe it's $7-$8), was on a list for about $100 USD.

Strangely they had a Boillinger bubbly for about 2x retail.. so it's all over the place.. but that was shocking.

Canlis $10 per person, but they dont allow you to bring bottle that they have on their list. check out their website to be sure. It was super cheap for me as my wife did not drink. Cailloux co-ferments with Viognier i believe. i find this a bit more 'blue' fruit.
Cerise is pure syrah.. i find this a bit more 'iron'y and 'red fruit'.

That's just a personal view.. there are super experienced Cayuse tasters on this board tho that can probably chime in with more thoughts..
