Re: Moving to Seattle area: Recommendations for wine shops, tasting rooms, wineries to visit?

I saw in the original post that you are on the Cayuse list. If you have not attended their release party in WW in April, it is worth the trip and it is only 3.5 hours to drive. Not only is it fun to meet Cristophe, Elizabeth, and Trevor, but it is a fun party and an excuse to taste in WW. Elephant S...

Galloni Interview on Bloomberg

The surprising thing in this article for me was that Neal Martin and Antonio Galloni both will taste Bordeaux - much as RP and Neal did for WA for many years. On WA, RP's scores took precedence when quoted by wine purveyors. Wonder how it will work for Vinous?

Usually the one I opened just now. I like the Camaspelo better than the Widowmaker, though that may because I have drunk much more of the former. It was the first wine they offered me in 2007. I can't seem to keep my hands off them to age them much more than 10 years, though I am sure that will chan...

The Garagiste Thread (The Great Enabler) Back to Life

Rimmerman's offer e-mail was unambiguous that the wine is all Cab Sauv. Assuming that's not a lie -- CT does not show any 2009 vintage "all Cab Sauv" Champoux wines from Soos Creek (Bdx Blend only) or from Sineann (only Cab Franc, Merlot, & Petit Verdot). If it wasn't for this, Soos Creek would hav...

There are a few on the list that I have in the cellar but have not tried - but will count those anyway. My list of those I have not had is similar to others but perhaps a bit bigger: Brane-Cantenac, Dufort-Vivens, Rauzan-Gassies, Boyd-Cantenac, Cantenac-Brown, Marquis d'Alesme Becker, Desmirail , Po...

I've never bought anything from Scarecrow and got an offer for 3 bottles of their flagship wine. I don't remember signing up for the list, and if I did, it would be within the last 3 years. You are lucky to start early. I started 30 years ago when I was in my early 30's. I bought what I could back then, but sure wish I had more older wines in the cellar now! As a result, mine is weighted towards 2000 and on, just hope I can still enjoy those wines when I am in my 70's.

The thing that stuck out for me immediately was the rating for 2013 Bordeaux - 87 & 88 points for Left Bank reds and 87 points for right bank. Wine Advocate rated the left bank 80-81, and the right bank 82-84. I thought the WA scores were generous having been to a UGC tasting for that vintage, but I...
