Just trash the offers if they bug you. I’m getting offers from pretty much any business that I have purchased from, not just wine. I know I cant support all of them but I do what I can.

Also these stressful days are not helping. I opened a favorite half bottle of Rhys Chardonnay yesterday and it tasted off. I’m pretty sure that it me. Switched to whiskey. Tasted the chard today and it is fine.

I am not experienced in this, but I would go at it another way. I would bring something the vineyard doesn’t produce. Maybe a champagne to someone poring Cabs, or an old Riesling to a Pinot or Syrah focused place. I would avoid direct comparisons.

Could feel it coming a few years back. Seemed to lack focus after the Popelouchum launch. Loved driving to the tasting room in Davenport and will miss the great staff, but he seemed not to care much lately. Will really mis the Syrahs and Telegraph. Ah well.

I get back to the deeper reds, Zins, Petite Syrah, Syrah-Grenache-Mouverdre blends. Also beer which I only drink in winter.

I pulled off steak au-poivre with Flannery filets. Nearly singed my eyebrows but it was phenomenal. Family dug in before I could take photos which was one of the best compliments. Not difficult but dangerous! I did the flaming outside with an extinguisher close at hand.

I bid on occasion and usually only once. If I see something I want, I bid and let the chips fall. I don’t snipe and if overbid, so be it. The good thing is all the wines I have purchased on Winebid have been in good shape.

Really enjoyed the evening. Still thinking about the mystery Granache Rose and the lovely and chewy Dehlinger Pinot. The bottle should have been a hint. My favorite of the night was the Larose.

Clean and citrus flavor, more grapefruit then lemon. Very soft bubbles which gives it a creamy note. Not the most complex wine but one full of enjoyment. Only bought 3 and should have doubled it. Fun stuff.

I took one of these for some friends in England this year and it was a hit with various cheeses and a cold pork pie. A lovely summer red with a bit of a chill. Definitely better with food.
