Amex was the card company that got hit the hardest on charge backs from Premier Cru. They may well have simply put a global ban on accepting futures orders for wine shops????

Pretty much what David said. Barclays offers international accounts but if your balance falls below 25K GBP, then it is 20 GBP per month as service fee. For ongoing transfers once in country, TransferWise is a good bet.

I moved back to SF from Switzerland with 600 bottles in tow. Biggest pain was filling out an Excel sheet for US customs in excruciating detail. Otherwise very easy process and duty was beyond cheap. Feel free to PM for details.
