actually, NO. i didn't do that with the 86. slightly complicated .. but to cut a long story short: opened 30 min before i left, took a whiff, stoppered, stepped on subway, and decanted about 30 min afterward i arrived at the venue w/ a funnel into a large decanter. less is more but some is required....

as for decanting, you can't put the genie back in the bottle. better to risk needing to wait it out than missing the party altogether. the pll decanted ahead of time would have wilted before dinner, and the llc would have been the rather slutty wine she turned into with more air from the very beginn...

Thanks for the notes! I had a 2000 last year from a friend, and it didn't do the Cali fruit bomb thing you described -- cedar, pepper, and yes, plenty of black fruit but not overwhelming. purchased on release, great storage. curious.
