Re: VHR 2016 large-format release

Have to give Bruce Phillips a lot of praise here, one of the good guys. I stepped away for lunch when the large format offer came out and when I returned to buy my 2 mags, the offer was sold out. I want to say it sold out in the first 2-3 hours of release. Anyways, my feedback of missing the release...

Sorry to hear that Neal. Every bottle of 03 LP I've had over the past 5 years have been great! One of the few 03 BDXs I've enjoyed along with Montrose. Have a few LP left which I plan to polish off in the next year or two.

Re: $175+ is the new $125 in Napa, will market support ?

I've looked for Schrader, Bevan, Hundred Acre and many others. I usually can't find them at all and certainly not for less than the release price. So I'd say cult wine is alive and well in Napa. Not sure where you're shopping but I can find those bottles you're referring to at or below cost with ea...

To Kalon $225
Beckstoffer Dr. Crane $225/$520

Houyi $200

I didn't buy Moonracer but I think it was $250 and can't remember what the Cab Franc went for. Will be interesting to see if they keep prices steady.

I live downtown Santa Rosa. If you're looking for a restaurant with a "good" wine list, I'd head north to Healdsburg or south to Glen Ellen or Sonoma Square. However, we have some great restaurants with okay wine by the glass lists. Big fan of the food at Bird & the Bottle (small plates), Bruno's, R...

I think Roy's wines are great. But he's not the only one raising prices in Napa, seems every producer is doing the same. If you want to pay for it, by all means. I support free market capitalism. The Boston P/E firm JW Childs that bought a majority stake of KB in 2015, also owned a stake in Cirq. How big, I have no idea. My guess is JWC recently bought out both Michael and Charlie's interests in Cirq to increase the production at KB. Hence, Act II.
