What bottle of wine did you open today?

2014 Haden Fig Le Puit Sec. A bit tight on opening but after an hour it really opened up. The price to quality ratio on Haden Fig and Evesham Wood is outstanding.

TN: 2015 Patricia Green Cellars Pinot Noir Reserve

Next time you are in Seattle we should visit Oregon and stop by some of your favorites. I'm sure Jim would schedule a visit for us. Patty Green makes some of the best wines in the valley.

Who do you trust (Flawed Poll Redux)

I always trusted Bob Wood. As long as he rated a wine "shitty" I would buy.

What Goodfellow/Matello are you drinking?

I really enjoyed the 2012 Matello Souris I had last week. A bit tight when popped but it really opened up with some air.

Oregon Trip- A Review

Thanks for the reviews. Yes my wife and I really enjoyed our tasting at Brick House a few years ago. Looks like we should go back. Their Cascadia Chards were top notch. We just visited our daughter at Linfield last weekend. We loved our stops at Evesham Wood, Seven of Hearts, and Gran Moraine.

agreed. a wine cellar isn't rocket science. anyone who has half way decent skills can read the Richard Gold book and build a wine cellar.

Best option for getting my wine to Hawaii?

The first time we went to Kauai I brought a case in a styro shipper. Now I just stock up at the Wine Store in Koloa. I even got free corkage at Red Salt in Poipu.

I have enjoyed the Anderson Family Chardonnays. My favorites for drinking now are the 2007 and 2010. They take a while to come around.

What is your #1 Favorite Region?

Thanks for posting Craig. I like the poll. I see the draw of Burgundy. I had some great wines from that region. It is also where I have had some big disappointments. I just got back from Oregon and they are making some great Pinots and Chards. I really enjoyed some of the Chardonnay's from Anderson ...

I also like Boat St. Café. If you are in downtown Seattle for lunch my favorite place is Il Corvo. They make their own pasta. Some of the best in town but it is only open for lunch.

Re: Why do guys with 1000s of btls in thier cellar....

I prefer to diversify. I've been drinking wine for 20 years and find my palate is slowly evolving all the time. I didn't think I liked German/Alsace riesling very much until I had a 2002 Zind H. riesling last month. Best wine I've had all year. Same think with Beaulojais.
