Sydney Restaurant & Wine Bars

Heading to Australia for vacation in June. We will have 5 days in Sydney before flying to Adelaide to meet friends for a week of winery visits in McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley. We have the wine part of our trip fully nailed down, thanks to helpful advice gleaned from WB and careful planning by our...

Re: 2001 Beaucastel blanc - last 2 bottles were dead, should I do something different with bottle 3

I had the same issue with the 2001 Beaucastel Rousaane VV this year. Acquired two bottles at auction - the first was heavily oxidized - the second was better though still quite advanced. In reading the CT notes from other tasters (should have done before I hit the bid button:-)) it looks like this i...

Re: Eurotrip 2018 report: Mostly Italy and France

Loving your notes, pics and descriptions! Thanks for taking the time to share all the details. I totally agree with you that - taking the time to summarize and sort through the pics helps you relive the trip. Sounds like a wonderful vacation. I can't wait for our next trip to France so we can try Ho...

Re: Fu in da Hood: Gangsta Rhone Night in O-Town w/FL Man Berserkers [Verset, Juge, Levet, Gonon VV, Jaboulet, et al]

Great notes - thanks for sharing! Sounds like an awesome dinner. I agree with you on the Gonon '06 VV - that finish just goes on and on - amazing wine! Haven't yet had the opportunity to try the '90 La Chapelle but interesting that you thought the Gonon has it beat. Now if one could only find the VV...

Re: Short notes on last nights nice bunch of wines

Sounds like a great night - thanks for sharing! My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Xavier at the Marche aux vins Chavanay last month - such a great guy. We got to taste through his current line-up including a taste of the La Landonne which he pulled out from under the counter. That Cote Ch...

Re: A Week in Northern Rhone 12/18 - From CT

Really enjoyed that travelogue Marie. Great descriptions and pics, well done! I’d love to set up something similar, though perhaps a bit shorter/less comprehensive. Sounds like you did 2 or 3 visits per day? Was that a fairly relaxed pace without having to rush from one to the next? Are the propert...

Re: A Week in Northern Rhone 12/18 - From CT

Stumbled across this recent, very well done (Alan Rath quality) write-up on a trip to Northern Rhone, hitting many board favorites like Jamet and Gonon: https://www.cellartracker.com/event.asp?iEvent=40322&searchId=9ACE8238%23selected%253DW1146465_1_K211d0c8d0d0635018e1ac8f13f6172c0 We need to get ...

Do we need to bring our own stemware? Sorry this may have been mentioned in the long thread, but I did not see it.

If there is still room my husband and I would love to attend. I am an active lurker here not too much of a poster. Would plan on bring a 2008 Corra from Celia Welch and a 2007 Checkerboard from Martha McClellan

Re: Offsite Wine Storage Facilities affected by Hurricane Sandy

I too have been affected by the situation at WCS - it is so depressing. Have about 1000 bottles there which is the bulk of my collection. Have not received any communication from WCS since Dec 27th when they wrote that they would be sending weekly updates. Not a premium customer, and at this point I...
