Re: 2017 vintage Schrader Allocation coming up

In the papers they sent they said “while many vintage history books will touch upon the late-season fires, our record books thankfully note that all save one block of our grapes were safely harvested and the young wines were in tank before the fires started.”

Re: Suggestions for Tin City, Paso Robles

Try Desperada. Great people. The wine maker/owner is Vailia Esch, the wife of Russel From (Herman Story). Someone mentioned Clos Solene, nice wine but they have moved from Tin City to their own vineyard.

Need Help Planning Wine Tour- Bordeaux

Two years ago we spent 3 days there. We used Dewey Markham an ex-pat who I believe won a beard Award for a book on the 1855 Classification. Great guy and he can set up everything. I believe he was $500 US for a full day. I will say that we toured on our own one day and did Mouton and Lafite by ourse...

Anyone familiar with Orin Swift's 8 Years in the Desert?

A few weeks Dave Phinney came to Cleveland and had a wine tasting at a local restaurant. He spoke extensively about this wine. It is in fact a zin blend and the name does come from the expiration of the 8 year non-compete on the sale of Prisoner. The reason for the price has a lot to do with the pac...

Walla Walla Recommendtions

Been there twice. Highly recommend staying at Abeja Vineyards. 5 Star accommodations and very nice wines. Each room is in a separate standalone building on the premises. For wine I echo the others but would add both Rasa and Doubleback (call both to reserve in advance) along with Va Piano and Gramer...

Wineries near Adelaide

Spent a week in the area. Highly recommend Kingsford Homestead. Huge property. Great dinners included. There is a shower and tub on the property where you have the innkeepers drive you and your spouse out into an area overlooking a river and you can watch kangaroo while taking advantage of the tub. ...

Herman Story Release - You Have to Love These TN's!

If you've never been to one of Russell's release parties, you are missing quite an event. The food, drink and traveling zoo that he hires are all outstanding. The next one is in a couple of weeks and we would not miss it for the world.

2012 Rudius question

Rudius is Jeff Ames own label. He also makes wine for Tor Kenward. All of the Rudius and Tor wines are outstanding. We barrel tasted the 14's with Jeff this summer and they too were outstanding. Of the 12's my personal favorites were the Knockmore and the Panek.

Day out in Sauternes

Really great read. My wife and I spent a day in Sauternes as well and made it to Coutet, among others. Our experience was similar. We were met by Aline Baly as well. She arranged a 4 course lunch for her, me and my wife. It was really incredible. And because we were coming from the US, they put the ...

DRC Romanee-Conti 1964 Poor Condition

I am selling a 1964 DRC Romanee-Conti. The condition is not good. It has a low fill (about 11 cm Ullage). Corroded capsule, moderately damaged label. Slightly raised cork. I did not buy this wine, but it was inherited from the original owner. The wine was not kept in a temperature controlled environ...
