Yes, it is temporary, as my original post indicated it will be returned someday. They moved the wine and everything else in those rooms just to get them out of the way. Those rooms contained a lot of crap and we need to be able to move around in the other rooms. It was a matter of space. For example...

The wine did not get wet. It was moved in order to replace the floors. I hope the same is true of the negatives and the library. Yes, oftentimes I bring up several special bottles for a special occasion, and if we don’t drink them all, then I take the survivors back down and bring up a daily drinker for consumption during the week. Seems to make sense to me.

Yes, I agree, that’s what I meant (in part) when I said timely, before it goes bad. So maybe I have five reasons. But the odd thing is that all five seem equally important to me; I would have difficulty ranking them.

I can’t speak for others, but I BYOB for several reasons: 1. I know what I like to drink. 2. I don't like ordering unfamiliar bottles off a wine list. 3. I have a ton of wine in my basement, and it needs to be consumed in a timely manner (before it goes bad, and within my lifetime). 4. To save money.

A decent corkage policy is nearly universal in Seattle, so I see little need to call ahead, although one restaurant did have a $35 fee.
Purple (downtown and Bellevue) has good food, a huge wine list, and no corkage fee. Hard to beat.
