Flannery Beef - 30% off Special 60-Day Dry Aged New Yorks (& Limited Supply 60-Day Ribeyes)

Did the 60 day strip side by side with a 50 day Pat Lafrieda for fun, both paired with a bottle of 96 Angelus that was received as a very generous gift recently. The flavor on the Flannery was richer and a bit more to my liking but the texture on the Lafrieda was more tender. Overall a meal I would ...

Glad I am reading this, I have 2 bottles of 05 Nera and 3 bottles of 07 Nera that I am going to leave buried away for a while longer.

I definitely drank through the handful of 08 Bianca that I had within a year or two of release. Wish I had some more of those right now, great value.

Thanksgiving thread #3. Bringing a questionable wine

Sometimes things work backwards. I had a bottle of 1970 BV George de Latour standing up for tomorrow. The label was atrocious, looks like someone stored it underwater. The fill and color were both good though. It was part of an auction lot purchased about a year ago. Another bottle from the lot that...

What have you learnt on your wine journey?

I have learned a ton about producers, vintages, grape varieties, regions and wine making technique but no matter what knowledge I add it always comes back to three core principles for me: 1) wines are influenced by their setting...drinking good bottles with great friends = great wine experiences. 2)...

While I enjoy this tequila there are several others I would also recommend.

Some of my favorites are casamigos reposado, porfidio anejo and, if you want a really aged version with similar viscosity to the Cuervo, grand Mayan ultra anejo.

The 12 is my only sample size to judge by but for that particular wine I would say yes. Whether that is a vintage specific result or a general trend time will only tell.

Either way, think it is worth trying, especially at good price.

I've really liked what I had tasted 87 or older and really didn't care for 94-current. BUT, I tasted the 12 of this wine and Tapestry and was very impressed by both. Not overripe, concentrated, balanced and thought would age well. Definitely made me a believer that bv is worth another look, especial...

Hope you have better luck with the 99 Dunn than I had. I had a 3 pack and a mag...all were corked. Only wine I have ever experienced that with...

Sorry for the bad luck on the Forman as well.

Out of curiosity, did zachy's disclose whether both the Forman and the Dunn were from same consignor?

From a good friend who knows more about Lopez and Spanish wines that most: Lopez de Heredia has a very eclectic way of doing things and it is the case that they do a little topping off with other vintages, but the main wine for the vintage Bosconia Reservas are in fact the vintages on the label. But...

My wife's birth year also so have had a lot. Latour showed well about a year ago. A lynch bages this weekend was very nice. Leoville las cases, leoville Barton both declining. TNs: Good not Great 08s -- Raveneau and Rhys

I opened another 08 Rhys recently, a swan terrace. Nose was pure and primary upon opening but within a few minutes in the glass it really shut down. Sounds like your tasting note is similar to my experience with that wine after being open for a few minutes. Tons of structure and acid so hoping these...

Food, tax, tip, 16 bottle byo at a steakhouse, yeah, $180 all in sounds about right if not lower than I would have expected.

Re the food, I was quite happy with the quality but perhaps I am biased. Curious to hear others thoughts.

I love the generosity of everyone bringing so many wines. Just for expectations, since we had a flat fee quoted based on an expectation of 10 people/10 bottles if we go over there is a decent chance they add on some more corkage per bottle over the 10. normal corkage policy is $35 per bottle with a 2 bottle per party max.

Was a bit tough to hear in the car but I think he said flat fee of $200 (I told him 10 bottles or so for a party of 10) but don't shoot me if he said $300.
