We just uncorked a domestic Cab built for aging, 2014 vintage. Decanted it six hours and it showed very strangely: subdued and almost absent nose, minimal fruit, lovely texture with silky tannins.

Mildly corked, overdecanted, dumb phase?

2013 Oakville Farmhouse was our first taste of this bottling. It’s a great wine but it’s 5-10 years from peak IMO. Definitely a Kirsch attack on the nose, blue/black fruit. Uncorked a bottle last night and it was too juicy, inky still at the two hour mark. At 4-5 hours the wine softened and became lovely and more nuanced. I paid ~ $45/btl and look forward to what's left of the case.
