Re: Early peek at 2015 Scherrer Shale Terrace

You guys never had a wine with fantastic mouthfeel and a nearly 100% savory profile? Like well-made gravy instead of wine.

Early peek at 2015 Scherrer Shale Terrace

Whoa, this is pure gravy now. Decanted for two hours and served in Zalto Universals this is savory all the way, don't bother looking for bright fruit. There is ample acid on the attack and some tannin, of course, but mostly this is mouth-coating, ruby/purple gravy. Stood up to Mel's meat-laden chili...

Thanks for the note... I have a 2010 James Berry that I would like to pop soon (never had Saxum). Based on your note, should I wait with this for a while and look for another bottle/vintage that's more approachable? Ready to rock. Re: TN: 2013 Enfield Wine Co. Syrah Haynes Vineyard (USA, California, Napa Valley)

We tried the 13, and then the 12, these past two nights. The 13 is royally a cool-climate and acid-driven Syrah, a fairly unique expression really. Don't expects olives or a dark fruit attack, this is ground-level Syrah. We enjoyed the wine after an hour in the decanter and it seems like it will age...
