89 Renaissance Late Harvest Sav Blanc

This was a lovely drop, maybe a touch hot in the nose but truly an enjoyable sweet wine to drink. Reminiscent of a plum wine maybe, or an apricot brandy, or some melange. Stepson is a 1989 child, and Haut Brion is now past my part-time pocketbook, so this was fun to share. 83EFE964-6629-4AC7-86F4-05...

So after 75H uncorked the Mendo Carignane showed best: smooth, bitterness vanished, perhaps less distinctive but fuller with a better mouthfeel.

I uncorked #135, the Mendo Carignane, Friday night for a glass last evening. I think it’s varietally correct and has an actual finish. Not heavily fruited at all. I enjoyed the glass I had and look forward to another tonight with a food truck burger as I’m working.

Ended up with a glass on nights 1,3,4,5. Wine was best on night 3; drank well until the bottle was dry as mummy pussy.

Had the 2006 D7.86 Experiment, primarily Cab Franc & Merlot, last night. Very fine wine at age 15 if a bit chocolaty after an hour in decanter. This got more balanced with more air time.
