Re: WTF is the problem with Chardonnay?

Great thread, full of the potential. Chardonnay is the 2nd biggest white wine "brand" in the world, behind Champagne. It is sold everywhere where just about anything is sold. Maybe that is the problem? Lots of sorting required. You don't have to buy the prestige bottles but you would be doing yourse...

Re: Terpines from cannabis and vineyards-any experience?

I read an interview of Barnaby Tuttle of Teutonic Wine Company yesterday which adds an interesting perspective to this "debate": HW: "Last year, you sent a couple of your wines in to a cannabis testing lab to see if they contained terpenes [the aromatic components in plants that give them their part...

Re: TN: 2004 Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Vireuils

Jean-Marc speaks highly of 2004. I've noted he likes to end current release tastings with 2004's; he blinded us on 04 Meix Chavaux in 2018 and 04 Luchets in 2013. Both, I recall, felt youthful though with the same mature weight Don mentions.

Re: Burgundy - why is it so often cloudy?

Great topic. Makes sense to me. Burgundy has super parcellated holdings of a thin-skinned cultivar. Perhaps with each increase in the number of bottlings, settling/racking/bottling becomes more important and harder to execute perfectly/consistently. Add to this that the wines are either lightly fine...

I really enjoyed a 2015 Cathiard Nuits village recently, and totally get Barry's notes on the 2014 Chambolle. I'm almost positive their grand cru age in 100% new oak and 1er are in 70%. Don't know what village wines get, but I bet a decent percentage. The wood integration on the 2015 NSG was somethi...

I think it is fair to say that Pithon-Paillé's wines are made intentionally with low SO2, native yeasts, etc. I wonder if it is just another natural white wine showing what happens when you choose to forgo protective measures like adequate sulfur?

Hi Keith, That's nice to hear, I'm grateful to be included! I last tasted the '15 Sandi bottling at the A&B tasting in late April and it was wide open, right out of the bottle. The 2016's, on the other hand, definitely flourish after some air. Those will land in the UK this summer. Hope the tasting ...
