Re: La Fete du Champagne 2019

Pleased to hear you enjoyed the Calsac. We opened a bottle of Les Revenants with dinner at Contra Friday evening. Second of the 2 bottles I was able to secure. This was the better of the 2 bottles, but perhaps just the company. Showed so good. Perhaps WOTY for me. Great nose, savory and comfortable....

Tracked down a bottle of the Andreas Durst 2016. Will open with my daughter on her visit to NYC this week. Maybe at our Friday evening dinner at Contra. Enjoyed the track you provided. Hi Robert

Hi Jay - Will be at La Fete Grand tasting with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Etienne Calsac's wines are beautiful, not to be missed. Poured the 2014 Corcelette at my wedding on the roof of New York's NoMad Hotel in the spring of 2016. Paired with seared arctic char. The wine showed beautifully. As did my Finnish bride.

Checking out the new Nomad hotel in LA and over-indulging sommeliers oogling Juge.

To be fair, there is a subculture for somms in NY (I can't speak to other geogs), and a big part of that culture is fetishizing rare bottles like Juge and IGing them. To me that's the issue, not Danny Meyer joints. We must dine at different restaurants and know different somms because that is not m...

Very fortunate to have found 8 bottles of Clos Rougeard Breze 2009 thru 2012 vintages, from a reliable source, at $130/per. Considering the pricing I've been seeing for Breze, $200+, these may well be the last I purchase.
