Now that baby #2 is sleeping, my nighttime game is much better. Is there room for one more? I have wine. Cayuse is the only Syrah though.

It'd be something like this - I have been dabbling a little in Cali Syrah, just tried a 2014 Arnot Roberts, really good stuff but no idea how Syrah tastes with age. Anyone have Syrah with bottle age? Or another thing I'd like to try is aged Rhone. And of course always aged Burgundy. I'm bringing a ...

I like this idea. Speaking of Syrah, I have quite a bit of aged Dehlinger if you guys are game. Since we don't have a defined theme, what about we post the types of wines we'd like to try and maybe another member can bring it. So the theme can be - "I Always Wanted to Try..." Lots of interest in breaking this up but I really prefer to keep it together.

I would consider breaking it into two lots. All of the .750's as one lot and all of the mags as another lot.

Why do people place early bids on Winebid? Question/Rant

Great story Keith, Except Mr. Y rarely, if ever, puts in a max bid $60 over the current bid. Especially on a wine in that price range. Try repeating the exercise with numbers of $70 and $80 and see if you get a different result. This: If Mr. X and Mr. Y paid $100+ for a $50 wine they're pretty f*ck...

Why do people place early bids on Winebid? Question/Rant

Wow! Some people need to go back to Econ 101. Wine opens at $50. Mr. X wants it and values it at $100. Mr. Y wants it and values it at $110. Scenario 1: Mr. X bids early, $50 as soon as the auction opens with a max bid of $100. Current bid: $50. Mr. Y bids on Monday, $60 with a max bid of $110. Cur...

Just found this: (from 2007) Dunn, who says he usually picks his grapes between 23.5-to-25 Brix, is asked why so many of his fellow winemakers seem obsessed about getting the herbaceous-ness out of their wines, when that characteristic was a favorable one in the 1970s and ‘80s and not a pejorative ...

Mike,

Respectfully, I don't think it's a style thing. I honestly believe that people have been conditioned in the last decade to believe that is what Cabernet is supposed to taste like. That "style" is new to Napa Cab. Tell me that Harlan 1994 or 1997 is drinking well.
