Re: TNs: Mosel is the real deal

By the way, is Von Hovel worth seeking out? I see he does a Scharzhofberger Kabinett. Although I'm guessing a less-prime location than Egon Müller? Yes, von Hövel is very good, but in my opinion more the Oberemmeler Hütte than the Scharzhofberger. When descovering the Saar, do not miss Peter Lauer ...

This was the highest effort I ever had for entering a vineyard.
Brad, sure, these things happen. There are German vineyards located in France. But now if you cannot find Cote de Bechalin under commune Celles-sur-Ource you can search and find it in Polisy.

Re: What to pair with Prum Auslese?

There is nor reason to eat something when you drink a Mosel Auslese. And there is even less reason to eat a German dish. Germany is not France. Traditional German wine is not made to be paired with food. Sure, a JJ Prüm Auslese can go well with some dishes in the sense that the dish tastes great, bu...

It was a vintage with some unripe/greenish/tart acidity and sometimes even this type of aromas. But, as always, the best producers saved it.

Thanks Charlie. I am glad to hear that. I do like to have some different experiences in my wines so having less lightness may be a fun experience. Thanks so much for sharing. Re: What are your thoughts on the 2005 vintage of Mosel (specifically JJ Prum)

Even on the Saar 05 produced more ripe fruit aromas (like ripe peaches or raisins) than the usual apple and lemon. The acidity is riper as well. I don't remember any 05 with green or tart acidity from the Saar. The wines are either very sweet or high in alcohol. (Othegraven Altenberg 14 % alc).

In Germany he is one of the few new talents who entered that group of really esteemed estates in a few years. He became member of VDP (not easy in Mosel), auctions in Trier's Großer Ring, gets high ratings, sells at high price. He is not an inside tip any more. All this with wines wich are not that ...

Btw, this is one of the Contrada-wines. Contrade are a kind of larger single vinyards in that area. So you might call this a single-vineyard wine. https://weinlagen-info.de/#lage_id=11810

The main limitation of the mobile version surely is bandwith in the vineyards. With 4G it works great, with 3G it was ok.

Yes I believe it's their home estate, which is mostly mixed agriculture with a third or less planted to vines. They also have another higher altitude vineyard (or subplot?) called Cerrete that they started bottling in '07.
Thank you. Ar there any maps?

Fight boredom - contribute to weinlagen-info

Hi,
any wineberserkers out there so bored to consider contribution to https://weinlagen-info.de/ ?

What you could do:
- check the vineyards you know best and find errors. Correct them.
- check regions you know best. Find missing vinyards and add them.

Just drop me a PM

Cheers, Charlie
