I’ve concluded there are distinct periods when a restaurant is really special but those periods don’t last forever. I won’t repeat my post above where I relate a huge falling off in the quality and vibe at Marea but apparently Michelin agrees. Tellingly I live upstairs and used to go there all the ...

Much better list than the (ridiculous) Pellegrino top 50 list. Had a stupendous meal at La Vague d’Or in St Tropez this summer. I see it’s #11. Love so many on the list including Dal Pescatore. De Librije is also strong and I had a wonderful meal there last week. I like this list.

Maybe it’s me but I’ve never had a great meal at l’Atelier Vegas. The greatest insult was when the captain referred to canalè as candelabra. Sorta says it all. And he wasn’t trying to make a joke either. He was ignorant.

Another surprise Marea lost a star. Yeah - I didn't want to bring that up. They can have negative ten stars, and I'll still go there once a week. Wonder why Marea lost a star. The biggest surprise is The Four Horseman getting a star. I love it and go often. Nevertheless it is still surprising. Bigg...

Nick, Daniel has a FOH “companion.” But that doesn’t mean he has to make them an owner. You don’t think for a minute that Daniel, as ambitious and exacting as he is, would let that slip do you?

Parker was brilliant to close his board to non-subscribers and to have Squires run the board like a tyrant. It seems modern winos think that prior to 1978, wine was made by nomadic Cro-Magnons who roamed the countryside each fall placing whole clusters of grapes into their goat bladder containers, mashing the contents, and then leaving them in the cave until the next spring. Best wine stores in Paris and Beaune
Folks
I'm heading to France soon; what are the best wine stores in Paris and also Beaune. Focus is on Burgundy but somewhat prefer Paris as I'll have more time there.
Recommendations please?
Thanks!
Wilfred
PS I did a search (mostly in the travel form and didn't turn up a lot of results).

I went to the gala dinner at La Paulee a number of years ago. It just wasn’t for me and I haven’t returned.
