Stella di Campalto Brunello di Montalcino 2004

This is a great producer. I visited her about a year ago when I was making my way through Tuscany. She is biodynamic in the southern edge of town. Her wines are very pure, elegant, and pretty. After meeting with her I would be weary about he 04 though. Stella said she hired a "well known consultant"...

Thoughts on Harmand Geoffroy?

I tried a couple of young Harmand geoffroy wines this weekend that were great. I know nothing about the domaine. Thoughts? I am thinking of pickings some up to age but considering how lush and delicious they showed young I am wondering about ageing potential. Thanks in advance, champagne.gif

Brunello Producers to Visit

I have been to Stella di Campalto and would highly recommend her as well as Pian del Orino. Stella is very personable, her wines are excellent, and her small winery is quite hard to find and well off the beaten path. Get directions before you go because the Gps is worthless. She welcomed us despite ...

I have been quite impressed with Rhys's ability to divvy up their allocations. I first made the list last spring and even with the tiny quantities of everything in 2011, I have already had the opportunity to purchase at least one of everything Rhys makes with the exception of Skyline pinot and syrah...

TN Stella di Campalto Podere San Giuseppe Brunello di Montalcino 2004

I just visited Stella about a month ago. She actually said that despite all of the positive press that 2004 is her least favorite Brunello that she has made. She thinks that technically it is very good but doesn't have that heart of her later vintages when she made the wines 100% on her own (she had...

Eric, I would interpret this differently. I have found with our corking machine (integrated part of our bottling line), we will occasionally get a cork which is slightly less dense than average, and it will depress slightly lower than average (or you can get this with a run of corks). Also, over ti...
