2011 was a tough, tough vintage in Sonoma. I haven't had this vintage of Geyserville so I'm just speculating.

2 red Burgs: '99 Chevillon NSG "Les Saints Georges" and '89 Comte Armand Pommard "Clos des Epeneaux". The Pommard started off as the better wine. After a couple of hours in a decanter, Chevillon really showed its stuff. Still not ready, but it wasn't a crime to drink it now. 1994 Zind-Humbrecht Pino...

Ridge Estate Cab. These are the lots that don't go into the Monte Bello bottling. It's also $65, not $150-$200. However, like Monte Bello, it can definitely stand some time in the cellar.

I know I need to RSVP by the 5th, but I’ve no clue as to the venue. At this point, I'm still in, but it's possible that I may need to bail due to work considerations (big mid-January deadline). I think what there needs to be is a firm cancellation date deadline (48 hours to a week prior, for exampl...

I think it's time to play. I have 972 bottles as of 11/30. For the past several months, it's hovered around 975 +- 5 bottles. December will increase as I have 8 bottles from Cedarville Vineyard and probably 18 bottles from Edmunds St. John that will arrive. The plan is to buy until I retire in May a...

I drank a bottle of Gevrey-Chambertin “Les Evocelles”, Dom. de la Vougeraie a couple of months ago. It was outstanding and drinking very well. It still has a bit of upside, but by no means was I sorry to open it. Pascal Marchand was the winemaker at Vougeraie at that time.

Popped 2001 Merlot. This bottle is perhaps the *eensiest* bit over the hill. In a weird way, it adds a touch of complexity. The balance is sound and there's lots of sweet fruit flavors. It's not on the same level as the 2006 Cab, but if there's any left this weekend, I'll pick up another bottle. I d...

2005 Cab Sauv was ok, but not much more than that. 2006 was a definite step up. Archetypal old school Napa Cab. A total steal at $17. I have a bottle each of 2001 and 2005 Merlot which I haven’t gotten around to opening yet.

I dropped by the GO in Redwood City. They didn't have quite the selection listed above. The only Meritage was 2000 (weak Napa vintage) so I passed on that. No 1996 or 1997. No 2003 Cab. I bought 2005 and 2006 Cab. Also, a bottle each of 2001 and 2005 Merlot. They had a Port (didn't note the vintage)...

Insulated 2-3 bottle wine bags

Any brand recommendations? I don't need extras included like wine glasses, picnic supplies, etc. If a small blue ice cube can be inserted into the bag, that would be a real plus. I see a bunch on Amazon in the $teens-40 range.

Thanks! [cheers.gif]
