You make a fair point. I completely forgot about Mavrodaphne. We can also thrown in Australian Port along with the South African versions. THey're usually made from Shiraz and Mourvedre.

I am absolutely not a beer drinker at all and I LOVE Dark Lord. Honest to God it drinks like a malt based dessert wine. Fabulous stuff and despite the above average sweetness for beer and full body, it goes tremendously well with grilled meats.

You don't have to taste the difference to know that the economics just don't add up. If literal liters of an alcoholic beverage are being sold that cheap then something is also cheap with the quality of the product.

Clearly the alcohol is killing off some of my long-term memory brain cells. Ah well, they served me well while they existed. :D at least you see a strong and consistent quality to Huet even with long aging.

Meiomi is not "spoofalated," as you put it, it's just late harvested the same as its other Wagner wine brethren, the Belle Glos Pinot Noir line.
