There's just something about this time of year. I sucker Sandler into sending me 6 bottles of great wine for $150 every year at about this time. They fall for it every time.

In for a 13-14 six-pack. Sheila is taking one of each, so you can add her to your list of female purchasers. Also, it needs to be recorded for posterity, since Sheila is in the running as one of the all-time Berserker Day purchasers. I have to make sure to credit the legend.

Affordable cali wine to get a sense of someone's palate.

I like the "grocery store wine" then slight upgrade based on comments suggestion. Complexity is weird to wrap your mind around at first, and that sort of blanket, somewhat sweet and fruity/vanilla $10 wine "palate" is made to be pleasing to people that aren't "into" wine. I'm continuously shocked at how many people just cannot tell if a wine is corked. I'm fairly certain that I have a pretty high TCA threshold. No. There is a better alternative. I honestly don't see one. Sealed caps, no. I'm confused by this comment. With modern equipment, "sealed" caps can be as sealed as the vintner likes, within reason. The vintner can choose how much gas exchange is allowed. How is that not better than "cork roulette"...
