Re: What Mike Smith wine are you drinking tonight?

bump 2010 Quivet Cabernet Sauvignon Kenefick Wow - this was on fire! Blind, I would have called this as a 2007 or 2008 - showed none of the 2010 rigid angularness and was instead just wave after wave of lush fruits. Might have been the best Quivet Cab I've ever had, so pure and seamless. Opened aft...

Re: TN: 2007 Scherrer Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley

There is definitely a difference between the three Scherrer cabs, despite the fruit all coming from the same place. The vineyard designated wine is a solid step up, for my palate, from the other two. It’s an excellent wine and one that can improve in the cellar for 15+ years.

2012 Anderson’s Conn Valley ‘Elogé’ Prior experience shows, for my palate, that these are better at middle-age than they are 10+ years out. I had the 1970 version at Bern’s two years ago and it was fantastic. I have a ‘72 in the cellar but, given the reputation of the vintage, I been thinking of it as more of a sentimental bottle (it’s my birth year) than something I’d ever open.

Me, too. My wife is currently not drinking so, if I open a bottle, it lasts me 2-3 days. I don’t save bottles much longer than that, but find that the Repour seems to preserve better than a blast of argon or a vacu-vin over that period of time.
