Re: What bottle of wine did you open today?

Had a 2007 Tuscany tasting last night with my dad’s tasting group. It was a belated 70th birthday event for him that I organized. All wines came from my cellar and were purchased on release. 4237EBB3-BBE2-4614-AC2C-1241914772C2.jpeg Not pictured is a 2007 Il Poggione Brunello I also opened. All wine...

The space between the rows looks pretty wide in that vineyard, Casey. Is that just the perspective of the shot, or related to the dry farming in some way?

Sounds fantastic, Brian, and much more appealing than a bottle I had a year and a half ago. I think the ‘13s have taken a bit longer to come around, at least to my liking. I’m happy to have another to check in on at some point and hope it shows like yours.

Most pronounced I’ve seen was on a bottle of Chateau de la Negly ‘La Porte du Ciel’ that was a special gift from my wife 8-10 years ago. The rubber scent was so pronounced that the three of us who tried it were all turned off and none of us finished a glass.

Gave this 3 hrs in the decanter, by which point it was open for business. As usual with EMH wines, this bottle was all about balance and a sense of finesse.
