A great Semillon from Oregon!

Where in Oregon are the grapes grown for this? And how does the style compare to Aussie Hunter valley styles? I'm sure this will be difficult to find outside of local. The first post says where the grapes are grown, outside the town of Forest Grove. It's in Washington County, part of the Willamette...

My understanding was that the wine has a lot of stuffing and needed time. I guess we're coming up on 10 years post vintage. Geez. I'll check ...

It's not made by David Hill Winery, but the grapes are from them. The winemaker is Jeff Vejr, Golden Cluster is his project.

It's a fun grape to work with..but has some grape-chemistry things to keep in mind. Ripens later and the acid falls out handily..So the brix can get pretty high whilst then needing an acid addition to get a stable pH/tA..Seems to like a bit of wood and also seems to like some whole cluster, especial...

Sadly no, the vineyard was sold in early 2014 and now the grapes are contracted to someone else. IF I can ever get gamay noir again though, it'll be for a rose sparkler.

Paging Beau at Random Wines . Thanks for thinking of me..I do make (or, made) a sparkling wine but it was gamay noir..Haven't yet experimented with pinot noir or chardonnay, and it's not super high on my list. "Open Late" what about just staying in Portland and driving down? Many choices for restaurants and hotels, and decent night life. Yes the drive in/out is dull, but it's not a crazy option. Urban experience vs. small town quiet, choose what tickles your fancy. It's not always the easiest drive after...

2013 Eyrie Chasselas last night, found it hiding in the cellar. Utterly delightful, with lots of Meyer lemon and some subtle peach/pear going on. A pleasant surprise was how minerally it was too. Went well with seared barramundi and roasted veggies.
