Munster Rösti

Ingredients

1kg waxy potatoes, grated

200g Munster cheese (high quality)


2 shallots, thinly sliced

1/2 bunch chives, chopped

nutmeg

salt&pepper

 

Preparation

1. Peel the potatoes

 

2. Grate the potatoes. But don’t use the liquid which is left at the bottom of the bowl.

 

3. Add some oil or butter to a non-stick pan on medium heat. Add halve or 500g of the potatoes to a non-stick pan. Press the grated potatoes with a wooden spoon, so everything sticks together and has a round form.  Also add nutmeg and salt&pepper.

 

4. Then add sliced onions.

 

5. . Slice the cheese

 

6. Add sliced cheese on top of the onions. Finally chopped chives on top of the cheese.

 

7.  Add rest of the grated potatoes, around 500g. Bring in form with a wood spoon. Add lid. Cook on medium heat for 5min.  Then another 5 min on low heat.  Then flip with it with a plate.

 

8.. Add a knob of butter/oil to the pan and bring potatoes back to the pan. 5min on medium heat and 5 min on low heat with lid.  ENJOY
