Pinot Days at The Skirball Center

I was very excited to attend Pinot Days on Dec. 7th at The Skirball Center in W. Los Angeles. This was my first time at this event and won’t be my last. I was excited to try so many new (at least to me) and exciting Pinot Noir wines from such a wide variety of Vineyards.

photo 2I am not very familiar with Pinot’s other than “California Style” which come with a lot of fruit, but was excited to experience more Burgundian Style which aren’t so powerful, but refined and sophisticated. I still love me some Belle Glos (pictured), especially the Las Alturas which has been a go to of mine for several years but also had the chance to try some more affordable Meiomi, which is a great alternative to the $40 price tag that the other B.G comes with. For half the price at $20, you can get a great “Cali Style” fruit forward Pinot that is a great daily drinker.

Some of the other wineries that excited me were Macphail (I really enjoyed the Ferrington Vineyard), August West, Martinelli and Morgan.

I certainly give my stamp of recommendation to this event and others that are similar, as it allows a person to try so many different wines and meet so many interesting and knowledgeable people in such an intimate setting.
