WOTY 2016; Your candidates? (at about the halfway point on the calendar)

Hi Paul. One of the greatest wines of my life. Perfection when I drank it some years ago.

2008 Thierry Allemand Cornas Reynard, just absolutely mind blowing, wow
2011 Jean Foillard Morgon Cote du Py
2005 Cayuse Syrah Cailloux

1981 Château Rieussec.

Tasted them today. Unbelievably good. Completely agree with you.

1982 Mouton.

Not a great year for me as far as earth shattering wine experiences. Nervertheless, my top two would be 1977 Fonseca Port and a 1961 Vega Sicilia.

The best wine(s) of the year so far was 2013 Maybach Materium earlier this year and the 2014 Becklyn Reserve CS I sampled over the weekend.

2010 Dominus Estate

95 Ridge Monte Bello
77 Taylor Port

So far:

1973 Mouton (thanks Art)
1996 Monte Bello
2003 Ganevat Vignes de Mon Pere

Overall, this year was pretty good (and the selection improves). While there some very good cabs, I would say the 1998 Marc Tempé Gewurztraminer Mambourg “S” Sélection de Grains Nobles was stunning. Its probably my WOTYs (as it showed up on my top lists for '13 and '14 as well).

Honorably mentioned from my top list:
1989 Château La Dominique
2004 EMH black cat
2004 Corra cab
2013 Becklyn Cellars Reserve
1999 Quilceda Creek Cabernet

09 keller g max
89 bonneau celestins
68 heitz pinot chardonnay
74 heitz marthas
99 guigal la mouline
02 rousseau clos de beze
99 drc richebourg

Red:

2007 Scarecrow
2013 Maybach Materium

White:

2008 Raveneau MdT
2012 Dauvissat Les Clos
2008 Marcassin Estate Chardonnay

83 Ch Margaux

1959 Chateau Talbot
1973 Baumard Quarts de Chaume
1989 Huet Moelleux 1er Trie Le Haut-Lieu
1990 Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape (Red)
2002 Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux

so far : la Mission Haut Brion 1945 , Romanee Conti 1978 , Clos de la Roche Ponsot 1971 , Mazis Chambertin d’Auvenay 2001 , Yquem 1945
and Yquem 1869 as the nr 1 .

Best old wine, 1810 Borges Sercial.
Best new, 2011 Quinta da Pellada Carrossel late release.

74 Mondavi Reserve. Just stunning.

A good six months, maybe lacking something particularly earth shattering but pretty decent all the same:

White: 2002 Dauvissat Vaillons (honorable mention: 2007 Dauvissat-Camus Forest)
Red: 2012 Benetiere Cordeloux Cote Rotie
Sparkling: 2010 Ultramarine Pinot Noir Rose Heintz Vineyard

'59 Mouton
'94 Dalla Valle
'76 DRC GE

That order. Doubt anything this year will top the perfectly pristine bottle of '59 Mouton… Sooooo young yet so plush and layered.
