Vegas--where to eat?

Bartalotta is at the Wynn. Ridiculously expensive, but truly fabulous Mediterranean seafood. Chef cooked at Spiaggia IIRC. Nice setting, too.

Alex was my favorite. Absolutely loved it.

Made a reservation at Bazaar Meats.

Thanks all.

I really, really miss that place. Alex just opened up a tapas place off strip this spring. I don’t not get there in May so can’t recommend but web site is here http://tapasalexstratta.com/menu/.

My worst dining experience ever. So poor in every respect that I can’t even excuse them based on the fact that it was a holiday.

Went to Vegas this past weekend. Went to the following:
1- Bazaar Meats- shared about 15 dishes between four of us. Highlights for me were the Ruben and Brussels Sprouts (yes Brussels!!! they were amazing)
2- Yardbird- Awesome fried chicken. A fun atmosphere as well!
3- Portofino @the Mirage- great authentic Italian.

All three restaurants were great and I’d recommend all of them. SLS was dead when we were there (Saturday night). It seemed like Bazaar Meats had more people there then in the casino.

SLS is always quiet, except for Bazaar Meat. They may need to rename it SOS.

Seems like every time I go out there the wine prices are higher than the year before. Hard to believe. Only good wine I had in three nights was a Ladera Cab and only because I wasn’t paying.

I concur, have had many a great cocktail there.

Cheers,

Bud

Ate at a nice relaxing…place off the strip. "The Vintner ". In Summerlin. Really like the atmosphere

Well done! What the hell does SLS stand for anyway?

I believe it stands for “Style/Luxury/Service.” Odd name. In Vegas we still think of it as the old Sahara, which was in a bad location and was really tired. I stayed at the SLS a few months ago for a conference and it was pretty nice, but the location is bad for anyone without a car. Bazaar Meats is impressive as noted in the comments above, as is the Sports Bar/Brew Pub with great burgers.

There are a few other SLS’s around the country (Miami, SoCal) with a few more slated to open (Seattle, New York, others). I think it is a California company.

was going to go to Alex’s tapas place but the reviews sucked. Kids didn’t want Bazaar so we did Andrea’s. Decent but not noteworthy.

But Tacos el Gordo is awesome. Amazing. Wonderful.

I’m a big fan of Sage at the Aria.

Me too. One of my go to places off the strip.
