Vegas Restaurants for next week.

uber!

Typically, omakase is the way to go with the better Japanese/sushi restos. But in the case of Raku, I prefer ordering off the menu after having eaten there enough times. Staples for me are the Kobe beef tendon, Kurobuta pork cheek and foie gras custard.[/quote]

With a group of 8 they only allow Omakase; which I thought was supposed to be their best effort. So you haven’t and aren’t going to change my mind. No big deal I had an experience negative enough that I likely won’t ever be back. Just leaves more for you! [cheers.gif]

Just reserved Milos Fu. Bardot looks good Danny. I might have to give that one a go as well.

Not a restaurant but the Talon Club in the Cosmo has awesome drink and food service if you feel like doing so gambling. It’s upstairs separate from the main casino.

Mon Ami Gabi is a national chain and not particularly good. But they do have a fantastic location and huge outdoor patio.

Was a recommendation as I was told the food was good, and the Bellagio fountain view was cool. With a young one, trying to work in several ideas.

Keep in mind that the fountain doesn’t start up until evening, so not an attraction for lunch.

Lunch time on the weekends.

Ah, thanks, we were at Lago lunch on a Monday.

Worst case scenario, we have a too at the Cosmo overlooking the fountains, so we will get our fix one way or another. Shaping up to be a fun trip.

Next is show selection. Did Le Reve last year. Hoping to see the Michael Jackson Cirque show and one other.

You have a ton of resto choices I’d say. Raku is pretty special and not far from strip. Their take on tofu blew us away and I’m far from being vegetarian. Well done done food there. Not a sushi place. I’m sure they will have something good even for an 8 yo.

I’ve heard the Milos prix fixe lunch deal is too good to pass up. Give us a review afterwards.

A lot of places will allow BYOB there for about $25 corkage. Delmonicos has big wine selection and has Grand Award from WS. Prime steakhouse at Bellagio overlooks fountains.

For shows Love at Mirage was impressive and I wasn’t even a big Beattles fan. I liked it nore than the MJ show and even the cheap seats are great.

There’s a Raku in West Hollywood, not terribly far from where Eric lives.

Don’t go to heritage in the Mirage. We went twice last week, and I was less than pleased. How could a steakhouse not send out a perfect steak (twice). The risotto was ‘loose’ and not thick. Salty onion rings. Dry hush puppies. An awful Caesar salad.

Ah, that’s right. Forgot they’d opened a second location. Was the reason why I wasn’t mentioning Nem Nuong for their take on sister resto Brodard’s pork rolls.

And noted above that large groups at Raku are only allowed omakase. Biggest group I’ve dined with there was a table of 5…

Has anyone been to Joe Prime Steak and Stone Crab at Ceasers. A friend of mine told me that he’s a big fan and I should make it over there.

Yes. I’d rather eat steak at Craftsteak. The stone crabs are pretty good right now at The Grill in Beverly Hills, so they are available close to home. In Las Vegas, Craftsteak is definitely better for steak than Joe’s.

Can I recommend when dining in the area, to look out for unicorn steak. Make sure it’s the ones personally verified by Gil Lempert-Schwarz, from his Swedish nobleman’s estate.

No experience with Joe or Stone. But I really came back to say that I think it’s a bit of a mistake to think of LV as a truly fine dining destination. I’m convinced that the restaurants, though they do a pretty good job, aren’t trying to compete at the level of what we expect in NYC, SF, Napa, etc. They’re catering to tourists who are in the mood to spend money, and just there for the weekend. I tend to stick with mid-priced, non-chain places, and stay away from the top end big names. YMMV.

Milos for lunch (Pre-fix) was great. The Octopus supplement is a must.

Mon Ami Gabi was a hit with the family today for lunch.

Took it easy tonight and went with a Pizza from the secret pizza joint at The Cosmo which is always solid.

Beatles “Love” last night was terrific and tonight we are seeing Michael Jackson “One”

I totally agree. I almost exclusively eat SE Asian when I’m there for this reason. Vegas is amazing if you’re from a tiny Midwest town that doesn’t have celebrity chefs but for 50% of America, they can get better food at cheaper prices at home.
