Stuart, can you please elaborate? Did the mustiness/moldiness disappear after you poured the wine back into the clean bottle, let it sit for two days, and then aerated?

Definitely, Rubin. Aeration, for me is often a panacea to off things that are slight and a product of a good sleep. Aeration always changes the character of a wine, IMO…though not always a panacea.Musti will often disappear; moldiness is iffy.

I had just opened a 1990 Chevillon Nuits-Cailles that had similar , though more intense moldiness and planned to aerate it quite a bit. I was hoping the TCA character would blow off. But, monitoring it over a couple of days resulted in no taste that was clean; so, the little left ended up in Maine septic tank where we were.
