It also says we should take into account that all critics who give ratings (afaik) taste wine without food. I know the WA makes a point to say that ratings of wine with food (i.e. Hedonist Gazette) are not considered official. I’m not bashing anyone or saying that it’s wrong to do it this way, but so many local wines are made to go with local food and not to compete without it, esp. in Italy. That may be why so many huge wines that get high scores aren’t really made to go with food.
