Sunday October 23 in SF:..pix herein, TN'S later

Just tell me what time you want me there.

So my two friends aren’t going to be able to make it. Which is probably better anyways…too much wine geekiness for normal people .

OK 7 people is now 4 or 5 I’ll tell Osso.

Left you a voicemail with my phone number.

My friend and I are bringing two premier cru bugs and an old Williams Selyem, something local for Kevin

We got here early. You, me, Shannon, and Alan. Andrew just cancelled.

Osso was berry nice to us. All the wines showed great including the rose’ of sangiovese made by Kevin’s friend in Oz.

The Wendouree was at youthful peak, finally. The Tyrells was a trip.

One of the very best Chardonnays I’ve had from anywhere.

Great night…Big thanks to George for organizing! It was great to meet some of the WBers from the Bay area and I think you guys found a nice BYO gem there…10/bottle at an upscale place is dirt cheap.

I really enjoyed the Vogue…it was in a really good spot and just ooozed Red Burgundy…Thanks George!
It was also my first time trying a Ceritas…really great Chard…Great intensity and richness but wonderful acidity…Thanks Alan!

The Rose was my friends Hunter Sangiovese Rose…I’m not a big Rose fan but I really like this one…it is one of my favorite Roses (if not my favorite). Too bad the label got all funny after spending time in the ice bucket (Sorry Ben). Savory, good acid, lightness of fruit but not too light…slight grip on the finish…

I liked the rose’ because it was vinous, tasted like wine instead of slightly maderized underripe dirt, and no extra sweetness.

All of the wines profited tremendously from airing except the Wendouree which was perfect from the get go, the first old school Wendouree I’ve had that was opened at the perfect time although it will hold for years, some structure came out after a while.

how was the 02 Potel Gaudichots?

It was still very young…Loads of potential with relatively biggish tannins and darker fruit…Would love to see this in 10+ years…

Kevin is my good luck charm. Wherever he is, new friendships and exciting wines arrive.

Anyone up for a road trip to Switzerland?

Good to hear a good night was had by all! And that Ben’s wine showed well… Did you present it blind?

Didn’t realise you were going via the states Kev. Are you still stateside? I should have teed up a stopover in an appropriate city to catch up (currently just a 2hr xfer in LAX). Arnulfo and Dom (both of whom you’ve met at Dan’s) would probably have been up for an offline.

Anyway, looks like we will be flying into Seattle at around midday on Saturday, I’m looking forward to the week ahead!

thanks I’ll hold

Whenever you want to do it George. I can set up itinerary and visits of all the best wine producers from starting in Geneva (JP Pellegrin) working along the way the lake up to Féchy (Raymond Paccot), Lavaux (quite a few good ones) and the stunning Valais (too many too mention).

Kevin, will keep in touch and see you over there one of these days.
