Reality Shows Killing Restaurants according to Jacques Pepin

Me either. In fact, I thought she was far less charismatic than he was, and while I get that she’s his daughter, he is a genuine master and she isn’t and I always thought she was a little disrespectful. My wife felt the same - we never really cared for her and didn’t watch most of the shows they did together.

OTOH, he clearly cared for Julia Child and in their last series, when she was losing it, he covered for her and treated her with respect and tenderness. He’s just a class act. The “reality” shows are just stupid. The impression they give is that you’re supposed to have a lot of tattoos and be passionate about something but you don’t need any real ability. I don’t know which show is which but there’s one in which they give you a box of ingredients to see what you’ll do with them - I’d probably throw out most of them rather than try to use them.

Just wait until he sees Cutthroat Kitchen

“I prepared my dish using a curling iron and a boat paddle, while duct-taped to a light pole.”

Isn’t that how all professional kitchens operate? [shrug.gif]
