We ended up going to the Wholefoods in Reseda. My wife suggested the one you mentioned in Sherman Oaks, but of course I picked the closest one at the time. Kind of lame. All was not lost, I was able to get a second trip into Santa Monica where we had lunch with the kids at Library Alehouse. They had Pliny, Blind Pig and a decent El Seguno on tap. Food wasn’t bad either. All in all, it worked. Looking forward to the next trip.
Did Highland Park, but only had time for one beer (tried a few though). They did have some crazy bottles for sale though, included BCBS for like $20. Also a confluence of factors landed me at Angel City, which was fine but only found about 2 interesting beers out of the 7 we tried.
Wally’s is a great wine shop. Lots of interesting stuff, perhaps a bit pricey but really accommodative on helping us with shippers - didn’t have the sizes that we needed in stock so they taped a few smaller ones together and off we went!
sad we couldn’t meet up. I’m still congested and it’s been a week!
