Hamburg Recommendations?

Heading there next month for a conference, but will have some time to be a tourist as well. Looking for restaurant as well as tourist recommendations - particularly art museums and historical sights. TIA!

Bump. Anyone have some ideas?

Can’t help really. Been plenty of times but always for work. I like the Hyatt bars and restaurants are good.

Lots is great spots by the lake.

How many days/nights?? Weekday/weekend?? How much free time? Have a German friend who lives there but just want to give them as much info as possible .

Sunday, Monday and Friday free during the day. Thursday and Friday nights free, heading back on Saturday. Thank you for the assistance!

Definitely take a boat tour of the harbor “Hamburgerhafen”. We were there many years ago and stayed at the Hotel Abtei - very close to a tram stop and easy to get around. It had an excellent restaurant. The guys liked the fish house under the city hall (?). The St.Michaelskirche is spectacular especially if it’s decorate for the pretzel fest.

Thank you Lori

Email sent-will advise.

not much here IMO, but …

"They really enjoyed renting a bicycle (you can do that all over the city, they are called City Bikes and are red) and exploring the city.

Neat citys close by are Lüneburg and Lübeck, both can be reached by train easily. Lüneburg would be my recommendation. It’s a small old town (most building from between 1200-1350) and you can walk through the city easily. "

Thanks For the effort Bruce.
