I have read several posts here on England and Scotland but have not seen many restaurant recos for Edinburg. I see Kitchen and Martin Wishart. Others??
Castle Terrace and Mark Greenaway.
We were just there in May/June. Number One at the Balmoral was excellent. More of a formal tasting menu type of place but excellent. L’Escargot Bleu made for an very good lunch, very casual French focused. And The Dogs was really good, too. Very home style comfort food pretty good and reasonable wine list.

Kitchin and Martin Wishart are both worth going to. I also enjoyed Scran and Scallie, which is in the Kitchin group but more casual, seafood focused.
