Foliage! You will be there in prime time, orient your trip based on where the foliage is peaking. Easy to find web sites giving approximate dates.

Look for macoun apples, my favorite, they don’t seem to make it outside New England

ohhhh Macouns! every once in a while the farmers market here has a few … I miss them so much

So where in Maine are you starting - Portland? Consider a stop on Cape Ann, MA or in Rockport - touristy but the landscape is so pretty and there are some nice inns.

Of course, you want to eat lobstahs. And plan to drive: Maine is a big state if you are going to Acadia or to the Canadian border.

want sites to see and restaurants–the best fun stuff.

In Portland, Central Provisions! Nice wine list too.

Lobster Rolls at The Clam Shack (Kennebunkport) The Clam Shack | Seafood Dining & Market | Kennebunk, ME
Eat dinner and spend the night at The White Barn Inn (Kennebunkport) http://www.whitebarninn.com/

Bring your wallet for the White Barn, particularly the wine list & I believe no corkage allowed policy for Maine in general .

Acadia National Park is beautiful, and I enjoyed Camden, though there will probably be lots of tourists.

great list so far. thanks.

Central Provisions was ridiculously good, the best food I’ve had in months. Also the only restaurant we ate at in Maine that had a wine by the glass that was order-able. The wine lists in general were awful, even at “good” restaurants like 50 Local in Kennebunk. Luckily every restaurant served local craft beers that were always good.

Otto pizza in Portland was also solid.

Favorite lobster rolls were at the Lobster shack in kennebunkport.
