Restaurant Recs in Ashland and Klamath Falls, OR

We are going to spend 2-3 days in both Klamath Falls (Running Y Ranch) and Ashland in a couple weeks.

I’d love any recommendations for restaurants in both places. We have two kids that are 7 and 9 and pretty well behaved so if there’s a high end place that’s great. We’re also happy with burgers and pizza and a good wine/beer list.

Thanks a ton

Scott

I have been to Klamath Falls and Ashland many times in the last 45 years, but haven’t been since 2011, so I don’t have any current advice regarding restaurants. Ashland should have many options and you might want to drop into Ashland Wine Cellar for some local advice. It’s located downtown, near the Shakespeare Theatre, which your kids might enjoy. At the Running Y you are close to some nice picnic sites on Upper Klamath Lake and less than a half hour from beautiful Lake of the Woods. I highly recommend the short drive and the Lake, which has a restaurant with outside seating. The food has been marginal over the years but it’s a fantastic setting which you should all enjoy. You might want to stop at Rocky Point Resort along the way to check it out. From Ashland, you can drive up to Shady Cove, where there’s a Mexican restaurant with a deck overlooking the Rogue River. Or you can drive up to Crater Lake, where there’s a restaurant in a historic stone building. Eat marionberry pie, especially in Ashland.

http://www.mailtribune.com/article/20130502/News/305020316 The old restaurant, Chateaulin, was very well known and whatever restaurant replaced it might be good. It’s also downtown.

We took a recent trip that included Ashland and ate at two restaurants we picked on the fly- Sesame Asian Kitchen and Pie & Vine. I would make different choices if I were you.

Just outside Ashland in Talent, Oregon, is New Sammy’s Cowboy Bistro. Good food and good wine.
