Paris -- Has anyone been to La Cantine du Troquet?

Passing through Paris on Sunday night and need something good for dinner near Montparnasse for me and a colleague. Paris by Mouth seems to like it.

Montparnasse on Sunday night.

Thanks. I think we’ve got our mind made up for the other place, but I’ll keep it as a backup. Will be in Brittany all week, so we’ll get our fill of seafood.

OK, my wife who’s currently traveling and whom I’ll be meeting up with in Paris next week, sent me a text message directing me to peruse Paris-by-Mouth, and just as I browsed this morning, La Cantine du Troquet appealed to me as well and will attempt to walk in (no reservations policy according to P-b-M).

Will now also check out La Caguoille.

Thanks.

Sounds good, Ramon. I plan to eat at La Cantine on Sunday night, so I’ll post a note about it afterwards.

Looking forward to your thoughts, Ken.

So, I’m an idiot who can’t read. La Cantine is closed on Sunday night, so we went to Le Comptoir instead. It was fantastic.

Well, so much for that thought. Thanks for the closed-on-Sunday info, though.

I’m only there for the weekend, and so need a place that’s open on Sunday. We’ll probably go to the wife’s initially suggested restaurants (at one of her preferred Paris market places) at Place d’Aligre for some fine cuts of beef.

I found this helpful: http://parisbymouth.com/paris-restaurant-open-sunday/

which is how we decided to just go to Le Comptoir. Wait was pretty short (about 30 minutes).

We decided on Clamato. Mostly great execution on seafood shared dishes. A lot of fun and memorable. Good eclectic wine list, too. No reservations, though.
