Best Steakhouse in Vegas?

Going to Vegas next weekend for a little fun and want to hit up a top notch steakhouse.

I’ve been to SW at the Wynn and booked that (for now) unless there are better options. Looking to get a few other recommendations.

Also, what are the corkage policies at most Strip restaurants? Would rather bring a great bottle of wine and pay corkage if possible Vs. overpaying for stuff on the list.

Eric…Don’t know how it ranks, but I’ve had several great steaks at N9NE…great “scenery” too.

Michael’s. South Pointe Casino. Awesome old school ambience and terrific meat. Get the crab app.

Craftsteak.

Haven’t been to N9NE in a few years but remember it was excellent.

I think Cut is fantastic and would place it at the top right now. I think some of the others, like StripSteak, CraftSteak, Carnevino, etc. fall in just below. I have not been to N9NE in years but never thought it was as good as the others mentioned above. While I love the beverage program at Delmonico, I have been less impressed with the food on recent visits.

Craftsteak, Corkage $35.

SW Corkage is $50?! As much as I loved the experience last time, that just turns me off a bit…

Went to Heritage by Colicchio in Mirage, it was fantastic on a wine buddies recco who calls on Vegas. Will definitely go back. Service was great too.

Went to Cut in February. Wife and I loved the appetizers. The steaks were cooked perfectly but completely over-salted. Neither of us finished our steaks. The staff were very nice.

Went to Heritage by Colicchiuo February last year and loved it. We would have gone to Heritage again but someone recommended Cut. I saw a couple of people bringing wine in so I would assume they allow corkage. We’ve been to Deomonico a few times because of their corkage policy as they allow more than two bottles and also allow magnums. A few buddies and I went to Prime several times on our guy’s trip but can’t remember why we quit going. We went to Stripsteak a couple of times. We quit b/c the pissed us off about corkage. They allowed multiple bottles the first time (granted I was familiar with the Somm at the time) but weren’t very nice the second time.

I have enjoyed Prime. Was in Vegas for golf a decade ago with a close friend who is past president of California Restaurant Association and a 12-step guy. We used his connections to secure a great table at Prime, ate next to Kelsey Grammar who was cool and fun. We hear the specials and start on the bread, somme comes over and my buddy excuses himself. I explain I’d like to hear about 375’s as I love wine with steak but my buddy doesn’t drink at all. Somme understands immediately but tells me they have no real 1/2 bottles on the list other than dessert wines, even goes to the cellar to check. He comes back and tells me, within reason, he’ll open any bottle on the list and pour it for me with apropos wine-by-the-glass pricing. Think I had a 91 Mondavi Reserve Cab for $30-40/glass. Had two glasses and loved my meal there. So I ask him what he does if they can’t sell the rest that evening and he tells me he isn’t doing his job properly if he can’t sell off the rest of this bottle within an hour (which he did) and even if we were the last table in the joint he would just take the rest to taste with selected staff. Classy.

I don’t know if Del Frisco’s is still open but a buddy and I nearly fought our way out of there a few years back. Closest I have gotten to Clark Co lock-up.

CUT as John Liotta stated

CUT is my current favorite

For me, Stripsteak is not only the best steakhouse in Vegas but one of my favorites as I have been able to establish relationships there and therefore get service that exceeds the food. I have spent 3 nights a year in Vegas over the last 10 years with very few restaurant repeats. That said, we will be back again this May after eating there last May (EXCEPTIONAL meal and service) and two years ago. I have also been going BYO in Vegas since 2011…this will be my 5th year. Stripsteak has $35 corkage with a 2 bottle limit. They pre-approved me for 3 bottles last year (actually 2 + 1/2 for 4 people) and they ended up waiving the fee. Bringing 4 bottles this year and will gladly pay the $35/per but don’t expect to have to do so. That said, my buddy the GM is out on maternity leave but I have been passed off to her assistant. Steve, the Somm, Monica, the bartender and Gerald, the exceutive chef all super nice. Gerald treated us last year to comps of “quick bacon” and dessert. It was the first time I have ever seen my wife of 17 years eat pork and she cleaned her plate. I like the oysters to start and a bone-in stripsteak. Supper brussels sprouts too and the donuts with the MacCallan pudding is awesome.

I think out of all the steak houses in Vegas, Stripsteak is my favorite as well. they serve a Rib Cap i believe…

that said, it’s not quite fair to compare a dining experience where you know the GM of the place (comp’d dishes, comp’d corkage, etc)… vs a regular joe visiting…

Still, if i was to eat a steak in Vegas, i’d probably go here. [cheers.gif]

We were well taken care of there as well. Steve gets high marks for service. When Bernie was there he was the best. I’m not sure I think it is the best food, however. It is certainly good, even very good. That is what Michael Mina does. Its never a let down but its never really super thrilling either. BUT, you know you will always have a righteous beverage program.

Let me clarify. The GM is not an old family friend. Instead of simply calling as asking whoever answers the phone, “Whats your corkage policy”, I try to reach out well in advance and make connections. In the case of Stripsteak, I was in contact with a GM at another Mina restaurant (NobHill 0 now closed) and he talked me into Stripsteak and put me in touch directly with the GM. I find making these connections greatly contribute to personalized service. Two nights later, we ate at Michael Mina and while we did not get any freebies, we still got serviced like we were old customers.

I ate at StripSteak a few years ago and agree that it’s up there as one of the best in Vegas out of all that I’ve tried. I really like Carnevino as well, but it’s sort of a steakhouse with an asterisk.

Just returned a week ago, and had a great meal at Prime. Perhaps a little more inventive than basic steakhouse dishes, and you can certainly see the slight Asian influence Jean Georges brings to the menu. Great experience with the somm, who was able to scrounge an '01 Albert Belle Hermitage (the last bottle in the house) at a decent markup on what is admittedly a California-centric list. Even ended up with an unsolicited gratis pour of '12 Stonestreet Upper Barn chard to go with one of our appetizers.
